Projections

I have been projecting films and VJ at parties, clubs and event spaces for a number of years. I am part of the Audio/Video crew amoeba technology. Amoeba has been involved in the NYC music scene since the mid 90s. I am one of six (currently active) members, three audio and three visual. For most of our shows in NYC, I use three 16mm projectors, but when I travel further afield I use my laptoop to mix video. The 16mms are heavy and three of them, with films and lenses weigh over a hundredd pounds. Thereby making them difficult to transport. Voltage considerations are another factor outside North America.

For this part of the site I am preparing information on using 16mm for projections. While VJing is certainly logistically simpler, and allows realtime manipulation, there is nothing quite like the look of film.
